Saar Singhal

About

Saar Singhal is a South Asian composer with an extensive portfolio in film and TV. Deeply inspired by global genres and known for blending traditional sounds with modern production techniques, Saar’s scores are featured in international hits such as No Hard Feelings (2023), Pippa (2023), Maidaan (2024), and the viral Asian mobile game FAU-G (2021). He is currently set to compose the scores for a series of short films and a TV pilot slated for release in 2025.

Handpicked and trained by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire), Saar began his career writing additional music for chart-topping Bollywood films. He has also worked in Los Angeles with Oscar-winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi) as a score coordinator and additional music composer. Over this time, Saar gathered a strong team of mixing engineers, orchestrators, and contractors who help him deliver the highest quality scores driven by the story being told.

Saar’s compositions evolve organically, often through improvisation on unconventional instruments. He begins with unique and unorthodox sounds, like the subtle clicks on a nearby laptop or the piercing traffic noises of South India, using these to explore the deeper stories and emotions within his projects. He then meticulously incorporates instruments from around the globe, creating music that is unpredictable yet cohesive, distinctive yet universal, and always uniquely accessible.

Though primarily focused on composing for the screen, Saar is also a classically trained pianist and a jazz saxophonist. Early in his career, he performed at prestigious jazz festivals worldwide, including the Savannah and Monterey Jazz Festivals between 2015 and 2017. His diverse experiences also include a brief stint in New York as a club DJ and electronic music producer.
